For older homes where floor-level seepage is a consistent problem, an interior drainage system is often the most effective long-term fix. The system that actually works is a below-floor installation: 4-inch perforated pipe running along the foundation perimeter, laid in washed stone with filter fabric, installed below the slab and pitched to drain by gravity to a sump basin. That configuration lowers the water table beneath the basement floor, which reduces the upward pressure that drives seepage through the floor-wall joint and slab cracks.

Above-floor channel systems mount at the base of the wall and collect water that has already entered. They can direct that water to a pump, but they don't change the pressure beneath the slab.
